American health data security broke records last year—in a bad way.
This is according to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Civil Rights breach report (informally known as the “Wall of Shame”), which tracks major breaches affecting 500 or more individuals. This past year, 172 million individuals were impacted by large health data breaches. As a majority of these breaches continue to come from cybersecurity/IT incidents, we in medtech must continue doubling down our focus on data privacy and security this year.
